Re-launching 27th April 2020

Prayer is so important because it is food and drink to our spiritual lives.

We have never needed prayer in our world as we do right now.  Through prayer we bring to the Father our troubles and our joys, we remember that we are loved, and we return to our lives with our hearts strengthened, as Jesus himself showed us.

In these six sessions, we will explore the nature and purpose of prayer and how it fits into everyday life.  We will be reflecting on our own way of praying and how it may have changed over time, before considering together how our parishes and pastoral areas can help support us in growing as people of prayer. For each weekly topic, there are different resources to read, watch and think about on the website.  You can explore these at any time that suits you through the week.  There is a printable journal that you can use to track your progress.

The course can be undertaken by individuals, but like any learning, can benefit from being part of a group to exchange ideas, thoughts and experiences.

This is obviously not easy at the moment, but parishes can set up groups which can meet virtually over Zoom, Amazon Chime (free for first time users until 30th June) or even WhatsApp or Facebook video.  A lower tech route is to use a WhatsApp group and text questions and answers to each other.  If you want to start a group in your parish, have a chat with your parish priest, register as a group leader, and we will send you the facilitator pack with everything you need to get started, along with suggested wording that can be sent out on email.

If we need to do more online into the future, the course would also work well with First Communion parents, RCIA group, prayer groups or even Parish Councils.

If you have no parish group but would like to join with others we hope to start online diocesan groups from 29th April.

Pathways of Prayer opened a whole new horizon to me. It gave me access to Spiritual Leaders I did not know existed and encouraged me to make a little more fruitful use of my computer. It gave me insight and encouragement and also increased confidence in expressing my faith.
